The Honorary Consul of Canada in Minas Gerais, Dr. Ricardo Guimaraes, was awarded on 11 December with the Minas Economic Development Award with the medal economist Fernando Antonio Roquete Reis - category Foreign Trade and International Relations.
Dr. Ricardo Guimaraes took over as Honorary Consul of Canada on January 11 and has since exercised consular assistance in the Honorary Consulate of the country in Minas Gerais. In addition to providing information about Canadian citizenship, is also responsible for supporting the development of commercial and economic relations of Canada in the region, has participation in some ceremonies and in the reception and support to Canadian citizens and entrepreneurs.
Due the operations of 52 Canadian companies in Minas Gerais And the role of Brazilian companies in Canada, with particular reference to Vale do Rio Doce, Dr. Ricardo Guimaraes gave support for the installation of Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce in the State. Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce will have important collaboration to support Canadian companies in the state and in the development of the economy in Minas.
The Award Minas Economic Development, held annually by the Association of Economists de Minas Gerais (ASSEMG) and the Mercado Comum Magazine, rewards people who stood out in several areas of the state economy. This year, the Vice-President of Brazil, Jose Alencar, the Secretary of State for Planning and Management of the Government of Minas Gerais, Renata Vilhena, and other persons of public and private sectors, received the Award.
